(Huntsville, Ala, May 5, 2020) – CFD Research recently invited the Huntsville SWAT team to evaluate a new door breaching product developed as a result of an internal Innovation Accelerator program. The UnicornTM is a system designed to puncture and remove outward opening reinforced doors for quick and safe entry by first responders including police, military and fire/rescue squads. The results speak for themselves:
CFD Research employee Will Krolick and friends Zach Wright and Wyatt Ramos initiated the idea in college. Mr. Krolick ran the idea through CFD Research’s “Shark Tank” style innovation pitch competition. CFD Research leadership took notice and provided seed funding to develop prototypes and a business plan. The result is the Unicorn Door Breaching system and a newly formed spin-out, Sirberus Tactical.
“It’s exciting that while I’ve only been with the company for less than two years, they have empowered me and my co-founders to bring this important idea and product to reality,” said Will Krolick, CFD Research project engineer. “Being involved in all phases of bringing this product to market, including the business and marketing aspects along with the typical engineering design, analysis, testing and manufacturing, is extremely rewarding.”
“This is just another example of the innovation and initiative that our excellent employees bring to our company,” said Sameer Singhal, CFD Research president and CEO. “While most of our work is government sponsored R&D and services, we always seek to transition ideas to the market and if an excellent idea like the Unicorn Breaching System comes directly from our staff, we will help them realize that potential as well.”
