(Huntsville, Ala.) – CFD Research, a leader in advanced engineering solutions, has been awarded a contract by L3Harris Technologies (NYSE:LXH) in support of Next Generation Jammer – Low Band (NGJ-LB) Engineering and Manufacturing Development.
The NGJ-LB is part of a larger NGJ system that will augment and ultimately replace the legacy ALQ-99 Tactical Jamming System on the EA-18G Growler aircraft. Using the latest software and Active Electronically Scanned Array technologies, NGJ will provide enhanced Airborne Electronic Attack (AEA) capabilities to disrupt, deny and degrade enemy air defense and ground communication systems.
This latest increment will counter a larger capacity of adversary systems in the low-frequency electromagnetic spectrum.
“CFD Research is excited for the opportunity to be part of this team supporting L3Harris and the Navy on bringing this technology to the warfighter,” said Sameer Singhal, President & CEO of CFD Research.
CFD Research will provide ram air turbine power generation capabilities in support of L3Harris Technologies’ delivery of operational prototype pods to U.S. Naval Air Systems Command for fleet assessment and additional test assets for airworthiness and design verification over the next five years. The NGJ-LB pods will fly on the EA-18G Growler and will support the Navy’s plan to augment the legacy AN/ALQ-99 Tactical Jamming System.
The Navy awarded L3Harris $587.4 million contract Aug. 26 for the engineering and manufacturing development of the Next Generation Jammer – Low Band (NGJ-LB) system.
