HUNTSVILLE, Ala. July 7, 2016 – CFD Research Corporation is being awarded the Corporate Innovator of the Year by the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama for its work developing software and hardware concepts, designs, prototypes, and products.
CFDRC recently spun-out a new biotech company, SynVivo, which has developed a disruptive technology with the goal to revolutionize drug discovery and personalized medicine by providing the most realistic and dynamic 3D in vitro assay and services to evaluate cellular behavior and drug response.
“I am proud that CFDRC, its associates, and partners, were recognized by EDPA for this prestigious award,” said Dr. Ashok Singhal, founder and chairman. “When we founded this company in 1987, innovation was at the heart of our values and the results have shown with over 65 patents, 20+ technology transitions, and two corporate spin-outs, including SynVivo.”
CFDRC has also instituted an “Innovation Accelerator” program in which significant investment by the company is made into commercialization, demonstrating a commitment to transition innovative CFDRC technology into the marketplace. The CFDRC Innovation Accelerator creates an environment that encourages innovation and supports entrepreneurial activities to provide real opportunities for the employees to pursue their ideas for commercial products.

The winners will be honored at the sixth annual Alabama Innovation and Entrepreneurship Conference in Birmingham on Aug. 30 at the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center (BJCC). “The Alabama Innovation Awards annually showcase and honor the best new inventions and innovations, and the awards process allows us to find stories that show innovation can occur anywhere in Alabama,” said EDPA Vice President Angela Wier.
